CAREER PREAMBLE

I Mr Daniel Bruno Bonatti went to Merewether High School, I done year twelve to aim for a career.I got two Apprenticeships , one was, Public Works and the other Sydney Waterboard , both as Electro-Mechanical Tradesmen. These jobs where attained while waiting for the H.S.C results. When I found I matriculated to Newcastle University. I embarked on my Engineering Career instead of Tradesman Apprenticeship. I privately funded myself to go to University.

I Mr Daniel Bruno Bonatti completed TAFE Associate Diploma in 1993, after having undertaken earlier studies at The University of Newcastle. The TAFE ,graduation took place at The University of Newcastle The Southern Cross Hall, in December 1993 presented by David Gorst and signed by the Managing Director Hunter Institute G Ramsey.

In July 1994 this was confirmed by The Institute of Engineers Australia, when not only electing me to Associate , they graduated me to the Society of Engineering Associates. This graduation was the Associate Degree. This meant I also had two years work experience.

The Associate Diploma a recognised two year degree ,meant I enter only a three year degree to continue engineering. The four year degree was for persons starting from scratch. Therefore I was put in a three year degree which leads to a Bachelor the same as the four year degree.

In 1996 I applied to Engineering Education Australia for advanced standing for the BTech degree in Civil and Management. The papers were referred to Deakin University , The Faculty of Science and Technology , School of Engineering and Technology. Where I got advanced standing and was enrolled into a BTech degree in Engineering and Management by Professor Brian Lloyd (x CEO Ford Aust). Since 1997 to 2009 , I have steadily been progressing through the programme. The degree at this time was fully accredited by Engineers Australia as a recognised Technologists qualification.

In May 2004 The Deakin University Chapter of The Golden Key International Honour Society, graduated me for excellence in academic performance this happened at Peter Thwaites Theatre Waurn Ponds Campus. This makes me  a Univesity Medalist.

In 1995/1996 I did several postgraduate courses. Two with AISC Australian Institute Of Steel Construction. These courses showed me advanced engineering using FEM. Looking to further my FEM experience , I went to The Faculty of Architecture at The University of Sydney , finding Design Science Courses.

In 1998 I applied to do a degree program, a Graduate Certificate in Design Science majoring in Building, completed in year 2000. The Graduation took place at the Great Hall, The University of Sydney on 6th April 2000. I was presented with the award by the Chancellor , Emeritus Professor Dame Leonie Kramer, A.C. D.B.E with the Occasional Address by the World Renowned Architect Mr Harry Seidler. Whom Graduated with me with the Degree of Doctor Of Science in Architecture, and became an Adjunct Professor.

With a Postgraduate Qualification I was full of confidence to start my own Business. This business in Engineering was called Lieda Constructions using the letters of my name Daniel. I got an ABN Confirmation in year 2000. Using my qualifications I have had various work through clients or contracts. In 2000 I applied and was made member of the APESMA, Association of Professional Engineers Scientists Managers Australia, confirming I am a Professional Engineer. APESMA became Professionals Australia in 2014 for which I am an Engineering Member.

I found the courses challenging and rewarding I went to do a Master of Design Science in Building in 2001 completed it in 2002. I graduated the same year. The Graduation was at the Great Hall, The University of Sydney on Friday 8th November 2002. The degree was presented to me by Deputy Chancellor ,Mrs Renata Kaldor , with the Occasional Address by Mr Tom Uren AO formerly Minister for Urban & Regional Development. I Graduated with Tom Uren Doctor of Science in Architecture (Honoris Causa) and Professor David Rowe Master of Design Science (Building Services ) ( Honoris Causa) .

In May 2003 I was put on The Deans Honours List in recognition of academic achievement. I also was awarded the Architectural and Design Science Prize coming first in my major Building, awarded annually on the recommendation of the Discipline head to the outstanding student in the program Building. The award is based on weighted average mark of sufficient merit. This took place at the Maclaurin Hall at The University of Sydney, making me a University Medalist.

In July 2003, I returned to do another Master of Design Science, this time in Building Services, as some overlap in learning existed from the previous Masters degree. I completed studies in 2004 graduating on 22nd April 2005. The Graduation was at the Great Hall ,The University of Sydney. The degree was presented to me by the Chancellor, Hon G.F Kim Santow A.O. former Judge of the Supreme Court, with the Occasional Address by Professor Mary Lou Maher ,Architecture Faculty.

In 2004 during University, I applied to Australian Institute of Building to obtain Membership and as a consequence receiving both Membership and Chartered Building Professional status. From 2005 onwards I continued my Bachelor of Technology Studies at Deakin University whilst self employed.

In 2008 I obtained Professional Indemnity Insurance for my private practise in Engineering and Architecture for both residential and commercial construction.

In October 2009 I finished my Bachelor of Technology in Engineering & Management majoring in Civil Engineering, obtaining High Distinction Average through my years of study. I had previously received the Golden Key International Honour Society Award because of my Academic Achievement from Deakin Chapter, this was when coming first while doing Introduction to Calculus in 2003 & Mathematics in 2004. This makes me the top 15% of Australian University Students. The Deakin University Transcript includes work experience which together with my part- time studies makes for my many years of learning.

The Graduation at Deakin University took place at the Frank Costa Hall ,Geelong ,Waterfront Campus on the 22nd October 2009 at 5pm. I was presented with the degree by the Chancellor Mr David Morgan , with the Occasional Address by Professor Warwick Anderson A.M. ( NHMRC)

During my University Studies I continued CPD Continuing Professional Development and Employment. Such CPD activities, were involvement in Committees and Boards. Some of my Employment was integrated into my University Studies.

On the 9th November 2009 I was elected, Technologist Member, by The Institute of Engineers Australia. This after my application to articulate from Engineering Associate (Officer) to Engineering Technologist due to obtaining my BTech a recognised qualification for Engineers Australia accredited by The Sydney Accord . This new level also conferred I had a further three years work experience.

I have studied under many high level Professors , for example Emeritus Professor Henry J Cowan AO Order of Australia for his service to Architectural Science. Chalis Professor Nick Trahair, Prof Geoff Hancock BHP Steel Chair.Sir John Sulman medallists Adjunct Professor Harry Seidler , Emeritus Professor Webber, Prof Peter Armstrong, Prof David Rowe (son Ron Rowe head RSL)

RESEARCH

My research experience commenced in 2003 Master of Philosophy (Architecture) with research paper titled Nexus Shockwave Phenomenon Supervised by Hon. Prof Simon Hayman. This research experience was when I studied Course work component in 2004 Modes of Inquiry , and Methods of Research taught by Professor Gary Moore (then Dean )and my Supervisor Hon. Prof Simon Hayman. My Supervisor at the time Hon Professor Simon Hayman knew of the research paper I list as experience. In 2004 I done an Architecture General Elective 1 with research paper a long essay with appendices , called Rural Tennis Court Development North Arm Cove, supervised by the past Dean of Architecture and Emeritus Professor Warren Julian AO Order of Australia.
I have the ability to pursue and complete sustained pieces of research such as dissertation an example is the Design and Performance Characteristics for the Merv Watson Building Tighes Hill Campus with Dr Simon Hayman in Building Design Practice 2002 and with Emeritus Professor Henry Jack Cowan AO, 1998 Building History , Thesis for ST Mary’s Cathedral. Also I have many research papers such as long essays as per conference and competitions lists. An example is Energy Management in Buildings or Contribution of Early Italian Engineers and Architects.
I currently 2010/11 have a Paper and Thesis entitled Bitter Payback for The University of Sydney Law faculty under consideration.
